This, I am ashamed to say, was my first visit to Cornwall. I did try and go last year but work took over and I had to postpone. A friend mentioned that his parents’ house in St Ives was free so I jumped at the chance, even though it was the August Bank Holiday weekend!
I decided to take the train down to avoid the Bank Holiday traffic which was a great idea, apart from the fact that my suitcase got stolen off it and that had everything for my stay in it, so not a great start. My initial reaction was to head home, but I was soon cheered up by the beautiful views and the friendliness of the locals, one guy offered to lend me his tripod after only talking to me for about 5 minutes (mine, sadly was in my suitcase).
I am so glad I stayed, Cornwall is stunning. I hired a car and drove around visiting lots of little coves and villages and getting a brief taste of life in Cornwall. It was only a small glimpse but enough for me to know I want to return.
