_Two of my great passions in life are travel and photography. I bought my first camera in my late teens from the local paper, £50 with three lenses, and from then on I was hooked.
My day job for the past 15 years has been working in production in the film industry, working on commercials and films, but my passion for photography has never died. I have been lucky enough to work with some of the film industry’s best cinematographers who have helped me with tips along the way and also kept my enthusiasm for the medium alive, translating their advice and techniques into stills photography.
From a very early age I traveled around the world with my family, sparking a huge interest for me in foreign countries and foreign cultures, including periods of living both in Austria and Turkey.
A three month train trip from London To Turkey four years ago re-awakened my love of travel photography and since then I have traveled whenever possible, camera in hand, to Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Austria, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Arctic Norway, Sicily and Spain.
I definitely like simple photographs, line, texture, and form. Whilst I enjoy shooting colour, I am often more drawn to black and white. I like the idea that once I’ve taken a photograph, the place may never look the same again. I enjoy capturing people, hearing about their lives, learning about a different way of living – photography has opened doors to me enabling me to, for short periods of time, immerse myself in different cultures.
I find myself always walking around ‘seeing’ things as if they were a photograph. Photography has made me more aware of my surroundings and has enabled me to view the world and the people in it in a different way. I have tried to embrace travel & fine art photography as one, exploring the world in which I live and attempting to capture the beauty and wonder of what I see in a single frame.
Currently I live in London, film work permitting, traveling whenever I can.
